‘Students in Solar Project learn more about country’

Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan said on Thursday that students taking part in RTHK’s Solar Project gained a better understanding of the country during their visit to Hangzhou in which they explored the potential of artificial intelligence.

About 100 students from 45 schools attended the project’s closing ceremony, taking to the stage to perform and share their experiences.

Kwan said the students visited a number of tech firms, where they saw how AI is used in everyday life.

She noted they were eager to ask questions, showing strong interest in the programme.

Kwan added that the trip also included visits to cultural sites, which helped students learn more about the country, while also making new friends.

She said one of the most memorable stops was BrainCo, a neurotechnology firm that develops brain-computer interface products.

She said the visit showed how AI can help people with disabilities, describing robotic arms and legs as giving them a “second life” and calling the work highly meaningful.

The group continued its journey to Wuzhen in Zhejiang province before returning to Hong Kong on Friday.
