Nnewi-South Primary Healthcare Centres Get Solar Electricity For24 Hours Service Delivery

AWKA – The Executive Chairman of Nne­wi-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Van-George Chinedu Ezeogidi, has provided solar electricity in all the primary healthcare facilities in Nnewi-South council area.

Ezeogidi who disclosed this while unveiling his three months work plan from June to August this year, said the essence of providing solar energy for the hospitals was to ensure 24 hours service delivery as well as enhance operational efficien­cy in the facilities, adding that such can not be achieved relying solely on the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for power supply.

He said that his administration has commissioned the solar elec­trification projects at Obiofia and Odikpi primary healthcare centres Osumenyi, Ebenato PHC, Utuh PHC, Umunuko and Uboma PHCs. Others according to him include Ezinifite, Ekwulumili, Unubi, Iseke, Obiuno and Amichi primary health­care centres respectively.

The Chairman explained that apart from electricity interven­tions in hospitals, his government has also ensured the security of lives and properties in Nnewi-South council area following the inaugura­tion of Security Management and Finance Committees in the com­munities in line with the Anambra State Homeland Security Law cou­pled with the zero pothole asphalt­ing at Amichi, Unubi and Akwaihe­di communities, adding that some roads have also been graded within the council area.

He said that the council author­ity will flagg-off solar-powered borehole drilling project at Osu­menyi; commission 30 open stores at Orie-Nwankwo market, commission rehabilitated borehole at civic cen­ter as well as commission rehabil­itated borehole facilities at market square Ebenato community.

He stated also that his adminis­tration will flagg-off solar-powered borehole drilling at Utuh and oth­er communities; flagg-off monthly business support for Nnewi-South women petty traders, embark on full furnishing and presentation of of­fice equipment for Nnewi-South LG Secretariat Ukpor; inspect ongoing erosion control project at Utuh and also inspect ongoing renovation of Ukpor police station.
