Residents of Opuadino (Ikebiri 3) in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area are set to benefit from improved access to clean and safe drinking water following the successful completion and close-out of a 20,000-litre solar-powered potable water project executed under the Oando SILGA 1 Host Community Development Trust (HCDT).
The official close-out site visit for the project, which also features perimeter fencing, was carried out on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, with stakeholders commending the quality of work and the collaborative efforts that ensured the successful delivery of the initiative.
The project, executed by Sylowen Services Nigeria Limited, was described as a major step towards sustainable community development under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 framework.
Speaking during the visit, the Project Manager, Engr. Dauseighe Matthew Bowei, MNSE, noted that the exercise provided an opportunity to assess the completed facility, evaluate the standard of execution, and appreciate the contributions of all parties involved in bringing the project to reality.
The site inspection team included Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Profit Tonyain; Executive Secretary, Barr. Emmanuel Ben Ofoin; BoT Secretary, Barr. Dokubo Fezigha; Management Committee Member, Mr. Christian Freeman; alongside other key stakeholders and community representatives.
Participants described the atmosphere during the visit as positive and reflective of the commitment, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated throughout the project lifecycle.
According to stakeholders, the solar-powered water facility is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of residents by providing reliable access to potable water while promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions.
The Oando SILGA 1 HCDT also expressed appreciation to community leaders, contractors, consultants, project teams, and supporting partners whose collective efforts contributed to the successful implementation of the project.
The close-out exercise was hailed not just as an inspection visit, but as a celebration of progress, impact, and sustainable development for the people of Opuadino (Ikebiri 3).
